Pirrung Elementary opened its doors in 1987 and was named after Dr. Joey Pirrung who served as both the district’s team physician for 25 years and as a school board trustee for 9 years. Dr. Pirrung passed away in 1991, four years after the opening of our campus.
Today, Pirrung Elementary serves about 450 students from pre-k through 5th grade. Our school is known for its small, family atmosphere.
Pirrung is proud to implement the House System where every student and teacher belongs to one of 4 houses (Coraggio, Mahalo, Inspirovat and Confianza). Each house represents one of our core values, has a mascot, color, and crest. Camaraderie, healthy competition, and a sense of belonging are fostered through this system. Students can earn house points, participate in house assemblies and games, etc. Students and teachers love to show their spirit and pride for their houses!
Paige Brison has been serving Mesquite ISD as an educator for 30 years. She has spent close to one-third of her career as principal of Pirrung Elementary. Before being named a principal within MISD, Mrs. Brison served as an elementary teacher and assistant principal.
Mrs. Brison lives with her husband and daughter on an acreage with horses, goats, dogs and cats. She is passionate about growing and inspiring teachers and students to be their best selves every day.
